What to Write About Yourself
What to Write About YourselfWhat to write about yourself can be an uncomfortable question to ask or an easy one to answer. Knowing yourself can tell you a lot about the person that surrounds you and the work you do day to day.We all have our opinions and are held in high regard by most of the people around us, but what to write about yourself can have little to do with other people's opinion of you. The author of a work of art and the editor of a work of literature are not obligated to agree on every detail and they certainly do not have to agree with every single line of the piece. Being passionate about something makes for better writing and the soul remains the same even when we turn our attention to a different area of our life.Being passionate about the subject matter that is being written about has nothing to do with personal life. There are some personal lives where one is just too shy to talk about them, whether it is one's relationships finances, business or family. However, at times it is so ingrained in our lives that it feels uncomfortable to bring it up.In our day-to-day lives, we are not always writing about ourselves and this is just fine. If it is a piece of fiction that you are writing about a character, then what to write about yourself should be personal but not personal. It should also be relevant to the work itself. For example, in a novel, if you are writing about history, you can insert a few details about your life, such as the date of your birth, or your marriage, or even details about your wedding; however, you cannot just drop in personal details like your relationship history. At the end of the day, you are trying to create a piece of literature that has a feeling to it, but it has to still read like an article or novel. Personal details are distracting and throw off the overall atmosphere of the piece and can ruin it.Once you know your personal life is appropriate to be included in a work of literature, you will begin to realize that some personal information is okay, while many personal details are out. You need to determine whether or not you are ready to write about yourself because of personal reasons, and if you are ready to write about yourself, then the next step is to find a source to gather information from. This information should be about your personal life, family, friends, place of work, hobbies and interests. Getting this information is much easier to do now than it used to be, thanks to the Internet.Personal information should be collected and prepared for the writer, but it should be made clear that this is for the sake of the work, and you are free to do whatever you want with the information. It is important that you are aware of the different aspects of your life so that you can decide what to write about yourself.
